Missed all but four games in 2005-06 with a right hip injury. Underwent surgery Sept. 28, 2005 and missed the first 11 games ... after four games (Dec. 29, 2005 - Jan. 7, 2006), announced that he would miss the remainder of the season due to continual pain in his right hip. Returns in 2006-07 at full health.

Played and started in four games, missing nearly the entire season with a hip injury ... made his season debut against Stanford on Dec. 29 ... started and played 29 minutes, finishing with 11 points, three rebounds, two assists, one steal and one block ... vs. California, he started and played 27 minutes, finishing with 10 points and three rebounds ... at Arizona, he had a season-best 14 points (5-10, 2-3, 2-2/his two free throws with :05 left gave UCLA its 85-79 winning margin), six rebounds, one assist and one steal in 31 minutes ... at Arizona State, he contributed 10 points, a season-high seven rebounds and one assist in a season-best 32 minutes.

In 29 games (23 of the last 24 as a starter, missing only on Senior Day), Shipp averaged 9.3 points (No. 4 on the team), 5.2 rebounds (No. 2 and also No. 10 on the Bruin all-time freshman chart), 1.8 assists (No. 4) and 1.21 steals (No. 3) in 29.7 minutes ... rebound average was highest of any freshman in the Pac-10 ... in conference play, averaged 9.6 points (No. 4) and 5.1 rebounds (No. 2 on the team) ... in his last 11 games, he averaged 10.8 points (119) ... Shot .524 (44-for-84) from the floor, .241 (seven-for-29) from three-point range and .667 (24-for-36) from the free throw line ... scored in double figures in 12 of the last 25 games ... led the Bruins in scoring twice, rebounding six times and in steals on 11 occasions ... in his first collegiate game, logged 10 minutes off the bench vs. Chicago State; had two points, two rebounds and one assist ... in 10 minutes off the bench versus UC Irvine, Shipp had nine points (scored seven points in 59 seconds in the first half), with three rebounds and one steal ... in 12 minutes off the bench vs. Long Beach State, he had four rebounds and one steal ... HONORS -- On March 7, it was announced that Shipp had been named to the Pac-10 All-Freshman Honorable Mention list ... at the Bruins' annual end-of-the-season awards dinner banquet, Shipp received the Seymour Armond Memorial Award (most valuable freshman/with Arron Afflalo and Jordan Farmar) and the Bruin Hoopsters J. D. Morgan Memorial Award (outstanding team play) ... his preseason honors included Athlon No. 55 incoming freshman in the nation ... Shipp's 2004-05 Pac-10 Rankings - Rebounding - 18th, 5.1. PAC-10 GAMES ONLY (Final) - Rebounding. - 17th, 5.1.
High School
2004 - Under head coach Harvey Kitani, Shipp led the Lions to their first-ever CA Div. I State title, scoring 22 (he tied a Div. I State record with five 3-pointers, all in second half) of his team's 51 points in a 51-35 win over Concord De La Salle ... in the southern California Regional final, Shipp scored 33 points, a regional record for points and field goals (14) in Fairfax's 75-68 overtime win over Etiwanda; Shipp scored nine of the Lions' 14 overtime points ... he averaged 30.4 points and led Fairfax to a 27-5 overall record; the Lions were rated No. 19 by USA Today following their California Division I State Championship ... scored 40 points in Fairfax's 65-46 win over Bishop Montgomery in the Redondo Pacific Shores Tournament final ... was a third-team Parade Magazine All-America selection, CalHi Sports All-State, Los Angeles Times All-Star Boys Basketball team and the LA City Co-Player of the Year (with former teammate Jordan Farmar) ... his senior preseason honors included PrepWestHoops No. 4 shooting guard in the West, HoopScoop No. 17 second guard in the U. S. and Lindy's No. 28 player in the nation.
2003 - As a junior, Shipp helped lead Fairfax to the City finals and averaged 17.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists and earned All-State underclassman and All-City second-team honors.
