Tasha Schwikert Named UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week

Senior won two individual titles at the NCAA Championships.

April 28, 2008

Senior Tasha Schwikert (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial HS) of the UCLA gymnastics team was selected as the UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week (Apr. 21-27).

Schwikert won a pair of NCAA individual titles at the national championships, winning the all-around for the second time in her career and capturing the uneven bars title after placing third in 2005 and second in 2007. Schwikert bookended her career by reclaiming the all-around title she won as a freshman in 2005, scoring 39.600 in Thursday's preliminaries. During Saturday's individual event finals, she won the uneven bars with a 9.9375, placed second on floor exercise with a 9.9500 and placed eighth on vault with an average of 9.5625. At the Championships, she earned four first-team All-America awards to bring her career total to 12, and her all-around title made her the first Bruin ever to capture multiple NCAA all-around championships.

This is Schwikert's first UCLA/Muscle Milk Student-Athlete of the Week honor of the season and third of her career.
